Jutta Horn is a dedicated member and the Deputy Chief of the Missanabie Cree First Nation. Her journey in supporting her community began with a significant move to Ontario in 1998, where she was instrumental in the nation-building efforts of the Missanabie Cree. This move marked the start of a deeply fulfilling career dedicated to advancing First Nations’ interests and development.
Currently, Jutta serves as a Planning Coordinator with ISN Maskwa, where she has spent the past year and a half gaining invaluable experience, particularly through evacuation deployments that have served various communities in need. Her role allows her to bring her skills in community planning and emergency response to the forefront, supporting her belief in empowering First Nations communities.
Jutta’s educational background includes a degree in Community Economic and Social Development and a diploma in First Nations Business Management and Administration. Over her extensive 25-year career, she has worn many hats, including Band Councillor, Economic Development Officer, Land Transfer Advisory Coordinator, Manitou Mountain Protection Plan Coordinator, Comprehensive Community Planning Coordinator, and Tri-Partite Forestry Agreement Coordinator. Her experience also extends to serving as a Project Coordinator for the Northeast Superior Regional Chiefs Forum.
Her commitment to advancing First Nations’ interests is fueled by a deep-seated belief that First Nations should be leading industry and decision-making processes. Jutta’s personal life reflects her dedication; as a mother of four and grandmother to sixteen, she balances her professional achievements with a rich family life. An avid hunter, harvester, and gatherer, she draws great inspiration from her mother, a revered leader and teacher who instilled in her the importance of acquiring skills and education to better serve their people.
Jutta’s passion for her role with ISN Maskwa and her community shines through in everything she does. Her career and personal journey are a testament to her unwavering dedication to her people and the values she holds close.
