Dean Roy is a member and a former Chief of Sheshegwaning First Nation, where he served three terms in that role. With two years of seasonal experience at Missanabie Cree’s ISN Maskwa in the Duty Officer rotation for the Indigenous Emergency Operations Centre, Dean is now an Evacuation Support Specialist with ISN Maskwa. Dean also held the position of Community Support Personnel Supervisor.

During his time as Chief of Sheshegwaning, Dean was involved in developing the Evacuation Specialist Community Support Program which became the foundation on which ISN Maskwa’s CSP training is based upon. Dean’s extensive involvement in advancing First Nations regionally and nationally includes serving on the Leadership Council for Anishinabek Nation, where he managed the Lands Resources and Justice portfolio and serving on the Board of Directors for the First Nations Finance Authority. Dean also chaired the Kinoomaadziwin Education Body (KEB) Chiefs Committee for the Anishinabek Education System, one of the largest self-government agreements in Canadian history. 

His educational background includes a BSc from Laurentian University, with continuations in biology, chemistry and computer science (Major), along with expertise in IT and Finance.
